Tyler wanted his own Christmas tree for his room this year. I told him he would have to prove that he was ready for such a big responsibility. We decided that he had to keep his room clean for 2 weeks, without being nagged about it, and then he could get his tree. I have never seen him so focused, or his room so clean. I gave him a sticker to put on his calendar for every night that he passed his room check. Of course, he did great. When we went on our tree hunt, he picked this one, chopped it down, dragged it back to the car, and let Sadie help him decorate. It is pretty fun and he loves it. We all love to hang out on his bed in the evenings and bask in the holiday glow. He has since added a few homemade paper ornaments--a snowman, gingerbread man, Christmas tree, and a star on top.

Love the pics! That's awesome. I can't believe he cut it down and hauled it out! So cool!
I was also just thinking about your amazing photos? Is there a secret? They are magical. Good Job Tyler for keeping your room clean.
Now this blog brought happy tears to my eyes! I so much want to curl up on Tyler's bed with the kids. What a neat learning experience about responsibility and working hard for something you really want. You're a special Mom, Debbie.
